Animal (mammal) traps - Part 4 : methods for testing killing-trap systems used on land or underwater

This part of ISO 10990 specifies methods for use in performance testing of: traps used on land to kill mammals; traps used in submersion sets to kill semi-aquatic mammals. The performance testing includes methods for evaluation of effective killing, pathological evaluation, mechanicalproperties (see note), selectivity, capture efficiency and user safety.NOTE ISO/TC 191 recognizes that other trapping systems are under development but are at a preliminary stage.Consequently, inclusion of appropriate mechanical tests for such traps is premature at this time. Nevertheless, the committeerecommends and supports the development of new types of traps and trapping systems together with appropriate testingmethodologies. ISO/TC 191 further recommends that the issue receives in-depth (re)consideration at the five-year review andthat all appropriate advances in technology are incorporated through the deliberations of the committee at that time.

ZOOM ON ... the Requirements department
To comply with a standard, you need to quickly understand its issues in order to determine its impact on your activity.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.

The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
