Standard Test Method for Oxygen Gas Transmission Rate Through Plastic Film and Sheeting Using Various Sensors

1.1 This test method covers a procedure for determination of the steady-state rate of transmission of oxygen gas through plastics in the form of film, sheeting, laminates, coextrusions, or plastic-coated papers or fabrics. It provides for the determination of (1) oxygen gas transmission rate (O2GTR), (2) the permeance of the film to oxygen gas (PO2), and (3) oxygen permeability coefficient (P′O2) in the case of homogeneous materials. 1.2 This test method does not purport to be the only method for measurement of O2GTR. There may be other methods of O2GTR determination that use other oxygen sensors and procedures. 1.3 This test method has intentionally been prepared to allow for the use of various sensors, devices, and procedures. The precision and bias of each design needs to be individually established to determine the applicability of that instrument or method to meet the needs of the user. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. Standard Specification for 50 Nickel-50 Iron Powder Metallurgy Soft Magnetic Parts

1.1 This specification covers the magnetic properties of 50 nickel-50 iron parts fabricated by powder metallurgy techniques and is intended for parts that require high magnetic permeability, high electrical resistivity, low coercive field strength, and low hysteresis loss. It differs from the wrought alloy specification (see Specification A753) because these parts are porous. A number of magnetic properties such as permeability are proportional to the sintered density. 1.2 This specification deals with powder metallurgy parts in the sintered or annealed condition. Should the sintered parts be subjected to any secondary operation that causes mechanical strain, such as machining or sizing, they should be resintered or annealed. 1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to customary (cgs-emu and inch-pound) units, which are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3.1 There are selected values presented in two units, both of which are in acceptable SI units. Standard Test Method for Single Wheel Driving Traction in a Straight Line on Snow- and Ice-Covered Surfaces

1.1 This test method covers a procedure for measuring the driving traction of passenger car and light truck tires while traveling in a straight line on snow- or ice-covered surfaces. 1.2 This test method utilizes a dedicated, instrumented, four-wheel rear-wheel drive test vehicle with a specially instrumented drive axle to measure fore-aft and vertical forces acting on a single driven test tire. 1.3 This test method is suitable for research and development purposes where tires are compared during a single series of tests. They may not be suitable for regulatory statutes or specification acceptance because the values obtained may not necessarily agree or correlate either in rank order or absolute traction performance level with those obtained under other environmental conditions on other surfaces or the same surface after additional use. 1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Ordinarily, N and kN should be used as units of force.
