Le présent document décrit une méthode d'essai permettant de déterminer la résistance à la traction indirecte (fendage) d'éprouvettes cylindriques de mélanges bitumineux en les soumettant, au moyen d'une presse, à une charge diamétrale le long de l'axe du cylindre, à une vitesse constante de déplacement, jusqu'à leur rupture. La résistance à la traction indirecte est la contrainte de traction maximale calculée à partir de la charge maximale appliquée à la rupture et des dimensions de l'éprouvette.
