ISO 15493:2003 specifies the characteristics and requirements for components such as pipes, fittings and valves made from one of the following materials:

  1. acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS);
  2. unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U);
  3. chlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-C);

intended to be used for thermoplastics piping systems in above-ground industrial applications.

Il fixe en outre les règles de détimbrage dans les installations en PVC-U sous pression, y compris pour les installations d'adduction d'eau potable.
