Le présent document spécifie les caractéristiques des écrous hexagonaux ordinaires, de hauteur réduite et à surplats normaux, avec trous de freinage, à filetage ISO M ou ISO MJ, pas fin, pour constructions aéronautiques. La norme européenne EN 2876 spécifie un écrou similaire à filetage ISO MJ, en alliage d'aluminium, anodisé, de classification 450 MPa (à température ambiante) / 120°C. La norme européenne EN 3228 spécifie un écrou similaire à filetage ISO MJ, en acier, cadmié, de classification 900 MPa (à température ambiante) / 235°C. Le présent document recommande, chaque fois que l'interchangeabilité peut être conservée, l'utilisation préférentielle des écrous correspondants définis par EN 2876 ou EN 3228.
