Le présent document décrit la méthode d'essai pour déterminer l'indice portant Californien (CBR) et l'indice de portance immédiate (IPI). Ces indices sont déterminés en appliquant à un matériau traité aux liants hydrauliques ou non traité de D < ou = à 22,4 mm, immédiatement après compactage dans un moule et conservation spécifiée, une force par l'intermédiaire d'un piston normalisé pour obtenir un enfoncement fixé. Les indices CBR (avec surcharge) et IPI sont les rapports, en pourcentage, de la force mesurée à des forces de référence pour les enfoncements considérés.
