Le présent document décrit des principes et une méthode ergonomiques visant à définir les éléments essentiels à l'éclairage des lieux de travail, en situation réelle. Il s'applique aux ambiances lumineuses en vision photopique (vision de jour). Son objectif est d'obtenir des conditions d'éclairage adaptées. Il s'adresse plus particulièrement aux services de prévention et santé au travail, aux ergonomes, aux éclairagistes, aux bureaux d'étude, aux architectes, etc. Il concerne les projets d'éclairage adaptés aux besoins de la vision.
