Le présent document a pour objet de fixer la technique de l'essai permettant de contrôler la résistance aux acides à la température ambiante, des surfaces émaillées, des appareils en acier émaillé vitrifié, en céramique sanitaire émaillée et en fonte émaillée. Par convention, l'attaque de l'acide citrique à 10 pour cent est considéré comme représentative de la gamme des acides pouvant être en contact avec l'émail d'un appareil sanitaire.
