Le présent document spécifie les exigences et les essais qui leur sont associés, pour les automates programmables (PLC) et leurs circuits périphériques qui sont destinés à une utilisation dans un environnement industriel, dans des installations basse tension catégorie II (surtension) dont les tensions d'alimentation assignées ne dépassent pas 1000 Veff. ou 1500 Vcc. Ce document entre dans le champ d'application de la Directive Basse Tension n° 73/23/EEC du 19/02/73 modifiée par 93/68/CEE du 22/07/93 et de la Directive "Compatibilité Electromagnétique" 89/336/CEE du 03/05/89 modifiée par 92/31/CEE du 28/04/92 et par 93/68/CEE du 22/07/93.
