Le présent document décrit une méthode permettant de doser les irones dans les huiles essentielles d'Iris pallida et Iris germanica, appelées quelquefois dans le commerce "beurre d'iris". Cette méthode résulte du travail mené en commun par la Commission scientifique et technique de PRODAROM et la Commission nationale des huiles essentielles, après plusieurs essais interlaboratoires. Elle permet d'obtenir de meilleurs résultats que ceux obtenus par la méthode par oximation qui dosait globalement les composés carbonylés, ainsi qu'une meilleure répétabilité et reproductibilité.
