Le présent document définit les recommandations concernant l'inertage en tant que mesure de prévention des explosions. Celles-ci sont également applicables pour empêcher une explosion en cas d'incendie. Les exigences relatives à l'inertage absolu sont traitées. L'inertage peut également être utilisé pour influer sur les caractéristiques d'inflammation et d'explosion d'une atmosphère explosive.
