Le présent document, après quelques rappels généraux sur la méthode, guide le lecteur dans le choix du plan d'expériences le plus approprié à son objectif. Les expériences peuvent être des essais ou des simulations numériques. Les plans d'expériences peuvent être utilisés dans différents domaines : agroalimentaire, chimie, électronique, mécanique, pharmacie, service, etc. Les objectifs auxquels ils peuvent répondre ont été regroupés en quatre grands thèmes : identification de facteurs influents, désignée par criblage de facteurs, quantification de l'influence des facteurs, désignée par modélisation, optimisation et robustesse. Ces quatre thèmes sont repris dans les Articles 3 et 4 du présent document.
