Applies to electrical installations such as those of:a)residential premisesb)commercial premisesc)public premisesd)industrial premisese)agricultural and horticultural premises f)prefabricated buildingsg)caravans, caravan sites and similar sites h)construction sites, exhibitions, fairs and other temporaryinstallations.i)marinas and pleasure craftCovers:a)circuits supplied at nominal voltages up to and including 1000 Va.c. or 1500 V d.c.b)circuits, other than the internal wiring of apparatus, operatingat voltages exceeding 1000 V and derived from an installationhaving a voltage not exceeding 1 000 V a.c., e.g. dischargelighting, electrostatic precipitatorsc)any wiring not specifically covered by the standards forappliancesd)all consumers' installations external to buildings;e)fixed wiring for telecommunication, signalling, control and thelike (excluding internal wiring of apparatus)f)the extension or alteration of the installation and also parts ofthe existing installation affected by the extension or alteration.Does not apply to:a)electric traction equipmentb)electrical equipment of motor vehiclesc)electrical installations on board shipsd)electrical installations in aircrafte)public street-lighting installationsf)installations in minesg)radio interference suppression equipment, except in so far as itaffects the installation's safetyh)electric fencesi)lightning protection of buildingsNote: -Atmospheric phenomena are however covered, in so far aseffects on the electrical installations are concerned (e.g. withrespect to selection of lightning arresters).Contains the rules for the design and erection of electricalinstallations so as to ensure safety and proper functioning for theuse intended.Note: -For identification of insulated and bare conductors bycolours, see IEC 60446.
