Applies to self-commutated semiconductor power convertors intended for service on single-phase rolling stock supplied with current of rated frequency between 15 Hz and 60 Hz. Covers the following types of convertors: rectifier, a.c. direct convertor (cycloconvertor) and a.c. indirect convertor (inverter with rectifier) when intended for supplying traction vehicle circuits). Also applies to convertors for supplying auxiliary services on traction vehicles.

Applicable to direct d.c. semiconductor power convertors intended for service on rolling stock supplied with d.c. current. This standard has been drawn up for convertors supplying vehicle traction circuits, but it can be applied, in principle, to convertors for the supply to auxiliary services on these vehicles.

Applies to mercury-arc convertors employing single anode or multi-anode valves with sustained cathode spot, single anode valves without sustained cathode spot, valves provided with grid or ignitor control, and to convertors using semi-conductor diodes. IEC 411 and 411-1 will be combined in a single booklet in the future and issued as the second edition of IEC 411-1.

Applies to convertors intended for service on single-phase rolling stock supplied with current of any rated frequency between 15 Hz and 60 Hz, to convertors supplying vehicle traction circuits, and to convertors for dual frequency vehicles and to a.c. switches if these form a part of static convertor equipment.

Applies to electronic power convertors with multiple-phase output installed on board railway rolling stock and intended for supplying traction circuits and auxiliary circuits for both single phase and multi-phase of power vehicles, coaches and trailers. Also applies as far as possible to other traction vehicles, such as trolleybuses.

Is applicable to power electronic convertors mounted on board railway rolling-stock and intended for supplying traction circuits and auxiliary circuits of power vehicles, coaches and trailers. Extends as far as possible to all other traction vehicles, including trolley-buses. Covers the complete convertor assembly together with its mounting arrangements.
