IEC 61558-2-20:2010 deals with the safety of small reactors for general applications. This part is applicable to stationary or portable, single-phase or polyphase, air-cooled (natural or forced) general purpose reactors including alternating current, premagnetised and current compensated independent or associated reactors. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2000. It constitutes a technical revision. The main changes consist of updating this part in accordance with IEC 61558-1:2005. This part has the status of a group safety publication in accordance with IEC Guide 104. The attention of National Committees is drawn to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing organizations may need a transitional period following publication of a new, amended or revised IEC publication in which to make products in accordance with the new requirements and to equip themselves for conducting new or revised tests. It is the recommendation of the committee that the content of this publication be adopted for implementation nationally not earlier than 12 months from the date of publication. In the meantime, the previous edition can still be ordered by contacting your local IEC member National Committee or the IEC Central Office.This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 61558-1:2005.

Safety of power transformers, power supply units and similar devices - Part 2-20: Particular requirements for small reactors
This part of IEC 61558 applies to stationary or portable, single-phase or poly-phase, air-cooled (natural or forced) general purpose small reactors, including alternating current, premagnetised and current compensated reactors, independent or associated, having a rated supply voltage not exceeding 1000 V a.c. or d.c. and rated frequency not exceeding 1 MHz, the rated power not exceeding - 2 kVAR a.c. (2 kW d.c.) for single-phase reactors; - 10 kVAR a.c. (10 kW d.c.) for poly-phase reactors. This part 2-20 is intended to be used in conjunction with IEC 61558-1. It has the status of a group safety publication in accordance with IEC Guide 104.

IEC 61558-2-20:2022 deals with the safety of small reactors for general applications. Small reactors incorporating electronic circuits are also covered by this document. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2010. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - adjustment of structure and references in accordance with IEC 61558-1:2017. - additional Annex AA with references for characteristic parameter measurements. - additional Annex BB for associated reactors with frequencies above 500 Hz. - additional Annex CC for partial discharge. It has the status of a group safety publication in accordance with IEC Guide 104.
