Piping systems for rehabilitation of underground drains, sewers and water supply networks - Part 1: Polyethylene (PE) material
This document specifies requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings which are part of piping systems for the rehabilitation, by means of renovation and trenchless replacement, of underground non-pressure and pressure drains and sewers and water supply networks, which transport water intended for human consumption, including raw water pipelines.It is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes, fittings and assemblies, as manufactured and as installed. When used with lining with continuous pipes, lining with close-fit pipes and trenchless replacement technique families, this document is applicable to:

- PE pipes with co-extruded layers on either or both the outside and inside of the pipe (total outside diameter, dn), as specified in Annex D, where all layers have the same MRS rating.

- PE coated pipes (outside diameter, dn) having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipe (“coated pipe”), as specified in Annex D.
This document is applicable to jointing by means of butt fusion and electrofusion and to fabricated and injection-moulded fittings and mechanical connections of PE.

It is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes of three different types: - PE solid wall single layered pipes (nominal outside diameter, dn), including any identification stripes; - PE pipes with co-extruded layers on either or both the outside and inside of the pipe (total outside diameter, dn), as specified in Annex A, where all layers have the same MRS rating; - PE coated pipes (outside diameter, dn) having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipe ("coated pipe"), see Annex A. ISO 21225-1:2018 specifies requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings which are part of plastics piping systems for the trenchless replacement of underground non-pressure and pressure drainage and sewerage networks and underground water and gas supply networks, by means of pipe bursting and pipe extraction. ISO 21225-1:2018 is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings, as manufactured, as well as to the installed replacement system. ISO 21225-1:2018 is intended to be used in conjunction with standards applicable for the construction of PE pipeline systems where available. Regarding manufactured pipes it is applicable to three different PE pipe types: - PE solid wall single layered pipes (nominal outside diameter, dn), including any identification stripes; - PE pipes with co-extruded layers on either or both the outside and inside of the pipe (total outside diameter, dn), as specified in Annex A, where all layers have the same MRS rating; - PE pipes (outside diameter, dn) having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipe ("coated pipe"), see Annex A. In addition, ISO 21225-1:2018 is applicable to: - jointing of pipe lengths by means of butt fusion joint; - jointing of pipe lengths by means of electrofusion joint; - fabricated and injection-moulded fittings made of PE. Pipes made from other plastics, e.g. glass reinforced plastics (GRP), are outside the scope of this document.
ISO 21225-2:2018 specifies requirements and test methods for pipes and fittings which are part of plastics piping systems for the trenchless replacement of various underground pipeline networks, underground non-pressure and pressure drainage and sewerage networks and underground water and gas supply networks, by means of horizontal directional drilling and impact moling. ISO 21225-2:2018 is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings, as manufactured, as well as to the installed replacement system. ISO 21225-2:2018 is intended to be used in conjunction with standards applicable for the construction of PE pipeline systems where available. Regarding manufactured pipes it is applicable to three different PE pipe types: - PE solid wall single layered pipes (nominal outside diameter, dn), including any identification stripes; - PE pipes with co-extruded layers on either or both the outside and inside of the pipe (total outside diameter, dn), as specified in Annex A, where all layers have the same MRS rating; - PE pipes (outside diameter, dn) having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastics additional layer on the outside of the pipe ("coated pipe"), see Annex A. ISO 11297-1:2018 specifies the requirements and test methods for plastics piping systems intended to be used for the renovation of underground drainage and sewerage networks under pressure, including both hydraulically and pneumatically pressurized systems. It applies to pipes and fittings, as manufactured, as well as to the installed lining system. It is applicable to polyethylene (PE) pipes of either solid wall single layer or co-extruded layer construction, which is reduced in the factory or on site to provide a close-fitting independent or interactive pressure pipe liner, as well as associated fittings and joints for the construction of the lining system. It is not applicable to PE coated pipes having a peelable, contiguous, thermoplastic additional layer on the outside of the pipe. It is applicable to PE pipes, fittings and assemblies intended to be used at an operating temperature of 20 °C as the reference temperature.
