Graphical symbols for diagrams - Part 2: Graphical symbols

This document specifies graphical symbols for diagrams related to industrial components, products and processing.

This document constitutes a symbol library, from which users can use the symbols or created symbol examples for use in diagrams (see Tables 1 to 149).

General rules and guidance for the preparation and presentation of graphical symbols are given in ISO 14617-1. Application rules for the symbols are shown in normative Annex A.

This document does not apply to:

?    graphical symbols for fluid power objects, see ISO 1219-1 (the collective application standard of the ISO 14617 series);

?    symbols of measurement and control functions such as mathematical functions and process functions;

?    graphical symbols for electrotechnical objects, see the IEC 60617 database.

Symbols deleted from the previous edition of the ISO 14617 series are summarized in informative Annex B as a reference. The alphabetic index of symbols defined in this document is shown in informative Annex C.

Process measurement control functions and instrumentation -- Symbolic representation -- Part I : basic requirements

Forms one part of four which provide a universal means of communication between the various interests involved in the design, manufacture, installation and operation of measurement and control equipment used in the process industries. This part establishes a symbols system for use in depicting the basic functions. The system has been limited to the identification of instrument functions and does not provide means of illustrating specific instruments. The definitions are used solely for the purpose of application and understanding of the symbol system.

Process measurement control functions and instrumentation. Symbolic representation. Part 2 : extension of basic requirements.

Forms and extension of part 1 which is limited to identification of instrument functions. Includes additional symbols and is intended for the communication of measurement and control fuctions among instrument specialists and other engineers involved in vessels, piping, layout design and operation. The definitions given in ISO 3511-1 apply equally to this part.Messen, Steuern, Regeln in der Verfahrenstechnik; Zeichen für die funktionelle Darstellung; Teil 2: Erweiterung der Grundforderungen

Process measurement control functions and instrumentation. Symbolic representation. Part 3 : detailed symbols for instrument interconnection diagrams.

Forms one part of four and specifies symbols which show, by detailing the components, the external connections between units of equipment. These symbols are not intended to replace the graphic symbols contained in IEC Publication 117. the diagrams may employ single line or multi-line representation and be combined with, or replaced ty tables, provided clarity is maintained. For further assistance see IEC Puplication 113 Part 5, Preparation of interconnection diagrams and tables.

Industrial process measurement control functions and instrumentation. Symbolic representation. Part 4 : basic symbols for process computer, interface, and shared display/control functions.

The symbols in this part shall be considered a supplement to the symbols given in ISO 3511/1 and ISO 3511/2 and used in conjunction with them. The letter code for function identification shall be taken from table 1 of these two parts.The symbols are limited to identification on process flow diagrams, piping and instrument diagrams, etc. and do not provide means of illustrating specific instruments or parts thereof. The application methods are shown in the examples.
