<p> La présente Norme internationale établit la liste de tous les éléments à inclure à la charge maximale d'un petit navire sans que celle-ci ne dépasse les limites, fixées par d'autres normes ISO, pour la stabilité, le franc-bord, la flottaison et l'équipage. Elle fixe aussi les exigences relatives à l'espace assis des membres d'équipage. La présente Norme internationale s'applique aux petits navires d'une longueur de coque LH inférieure ou égale à 24 m, conformément à l'ISO 8666. Ceci exclut les canots pneumatiques qui sont couverts par l'ISO 6185 et les bateaux personnels qui sont couverts par l'ISO 13590:1997. </p>
