Elle complète donc la norme NF A81-343 qui précise cette symbolisation. Certains essais spéciaux tels qu'essais de dureté, détermination du rendement, relèvent du domaine d'application des normes dont les références sont respectivement NF A 81-303, NF A 81-306.
