Le présent document spécifie une méthode de détermination de la consistance du béton frais par l'indice de serrage. L'essai est adapté aux échantillons ayant une valeur déclarée de D pour les plus gros granulats effectivement utilisés dans le béton (Dmax) inférieure ou égale à 63 mm. Si l'indice de serrage est inférieur à 1,04 ou supérieur à 1,46, le béton présente une consistance pour laquelle l'essai de l'indice de serrage n'est pas adapté.
