Le présent document prescrit une méthode qui permet de mesurer les effets combinés de la chaleur et de l'air sur un film mince de bitume ou de liant bitumineux en renouvellement permanent en simulant le durcissement que subissent la plupart des liants bitumineux au cours du malaxage dans une centrale d'enrobage. L'essai est désigné par RTFOT, c'est-à-dire Rolling Thin Film Oven Test, essai d'un film mince en rotation à l'étuve.
