Il spécifie les instructions pour l'utilisation, le marquage, un code d'essai acoustique et la fiche technique des performances à fournir avec le matériel. Il fait partie d'une série de normes s'adressant aux concepteurs visant à obtenir une présomption de conformité de leur produit à la Directive 2006/42/CE relative aux machines.
