Le présent document spécifie les exigences relatives aux écubiers destinés au guidage des câbles/cordages sur les bateaux de navigation intérieure, du pont au quai. Y sont également mentionnées les dimensions et les figures de quatre types d'écubier selon que ces écubiers sont dans le pavois (Type A) ou isolés (Type B) ou encore dotés de dispositifs supplémentaires tels que les cornes (Types AH et BH).
