Le présent document donne des recommandations sur la gestion et le contrôle de la destruction de documents confidentiels, toutes catégories confondues. Il donne les différents termes et définitions de ce secteur d'activité, décrit les installations nécessaires à une élimination fiable et sécurisée des documents traités (principaux locaux commerciaux d'une société ainsi que tous ses sites de conservation de ce type de documents). Ce document décrit les différentes phases, autant en termes administratifs (contrats, audits), de logistique (collecte, archivage, transport, destruction,...) que de moyens humains (enquête de sécurité du personnel par exemple). Une annexe informative précise les formats spécifiques de déchiquetage et de désintégration des catégories de documents.
