Le présent document spécifie les prescriptions de sécurité relatives à la fabrication, aux essais et au marquage des chariots de manutention automoteurs et des chariots à propulsion manuelle et semi-manuelle destinés à être utilisés dans des zones à risque d'explosion de gaz, vapeurs ou brouillards, ou de poussières inflammables. Il définit les prescriptions et les mesures de sécurité en fonction des risques d'inflammation induits. Il prescrit également les vérifications suivantes : températures maximales de surface, connexion électrique, résistance du circuit et enveloppe antidéflagrante. Il vise à venir en appui des exigences de la Directive "ATEX" (94/9/CE).
