Il définit les prescriptions pour l'éclairage (éclairagisme, ergonomie, éclairement, éblouissement, direction de la lumière et effets stroboscopiques) précise les qualités requises pour les lampes, luminaires et leurs conditions d'installation et donne des informations sur les obligations du fabricant, les procédures de contrôle et la maintenance. Le présent document est une norme harmonisée rentrant dans le cadre des Directives européennes 98/37/CE et 2006/42/CE.
