La présente norme spécifie la méthode pour déterminer la dilatation thermique linéaire réversible des plastiques en excluant des changements de longueur dus à des facteurs accidentels tels que changements de la teneur en humidité, degré de polymérisation et relâchement de contraintes. Lorsqu'il n'est pas possible d'exclure tous ces facteurs accidentels, la méthode peut être considérée comme donnant seulement des valeurs approximatives.
