Le présent document s'applique aux chaudières de chauffage y compris les dispositifs de sécurité ayant une puissance nominale utile inférieure ou égale à 500 kW, qui sont conçues pour la combustion de combustibles solides uniquement et qui sont mises en oeuvre conformément aux instructions définies par le constructeur. Il traite des phénomènes dangereux, situations dangereuses et événements dangereux significatifs se rapportant aux chaudières de chauffage utilisées comme il se doit et selon les conditions prévues par le constructeur. Le présent document contient des exigences et méthodes d'essai relatives à la sécurité, à la qualité de combustion, aux caractéristiques de fonctionnement et à la maintenance des chaudières de chauffage. Il couvre également tout équipement externe qui influence les systèmes de sécurité (par exemple dispositif de sécurité contre un retour de flamme, trémie à combustible intégrée).
