Le présent document spécifie la partie "application grand public" de l'interface d'interconnexion des équipements audios numériques définis dans la norme IEC 60958-1. A noter que lorsqu'elle est utilisée dans un environnement de traitement numérique grand public, cette interface est d'abord destinée à supporter des programmes stéréophoniques, avec un échantillonnage de 20 bits, une extension jusqu'à 24 bits étant possible.
