Le présent document spécifie un format de fichier pour la description des communications dans des configurations IED (dispositifs électroniques intelligents), des configurations des IED, des configurations de systèmes de communication, des structures fonctionnelles des postes extérieurs et des relations entre ces différentes entités. L'objet principal de ce format est l'échange de descriptions de capacités IED et de descriptions de systèmes SA entre des outils d'ingénierie IED et les outils d'ingénierie système de différents fabricants.
