Le présent document est une norme de type C (norme traitant de produits). Il s'adresse aux concepteurs pour obtenir une présomption de conformité à la Directive "Machines". Il est destiné également aux utilisateurs. Ce document donne les prescriptions et mesures de sécurité correspondant aux risques propres aux tunneliers sans bouclier et des machines foreuses pour puits sans tige de traction ainsi que les moyens de vérifier ces prescriptions et mesures de sécurité. En outre, il donne les définitions des principaux termes employés dans le domaine de ces machines et définit le contenu minimal de la notice d'instructions. Il vient à l'appui des Directives "Machines" 98/37/CE et 2006/42/CE.
