Le présent document fournit des règles sur la façon d'appliquer la norme EN 81-70 à laquelle il est fait référence dans la norme EN 81-80:2003, 5.2.1 aux ascenseurs existants, et ce afin d'améliorer leur accessibilité pour les personnes dont les personnes avec handicap. Il s'applique aux ascenseurs installés de façon permanente et desservant des paliers définis, à la conception d'une cabine adaptée au transport des personnes ou des personnes et des marchandises, et au déplacement entre des rails inclinés à un angle maximal de 15° par rapport à la verticale.
