Le présent document fait partie d'une série de normes mises au point par le CEN/TC 88 "Produits isolants thermiques" qui spécifient des méthodes d'essai pour la détermination des dimensions et propriétés des matériaux et produits isolants thermiques. Il vient à l'appui d'une série de normes "Produit" pour les matériaux et produits isolants thermiques qui découlent de la Directive du Conseil du 21 décembre 1988 (Directive 89/106/CEE), par la prise en compte des exigences essentielles. Le présent document a été rédigé pour les applications du bâtiment mais il peut aussi être utilisé dans d'autres domaines, le cas échéant.
