La présente norme décrit deux méthodes de détermination de la résistance au boulochage des étoffes. Deux méthodes sont décrites de façon à pouvoir examiner le comportement d'une étoffe au boulochage même lorsque l'on ne dispose pas d'une grande quantité de matière à essayer ; la méthode B tient compte de cette exigence et prévoit de réaliser l'essai avec un nombre d'éprouvettes inférieur.
