Animal and vegetable fats and oils - Determination of the content of trans fatty acid isomers of vegetable fats and oils - Gas chromatographic method

This International Standard specifies a gas chromatographic method using capillary columns for the determination of the content of trans fatty acid isomers of vegetable oils and fats. The method is specially designed to evaluate, by a single capillary gas chromatographic (GC) procedure, the level of trans isomers as formed during (high temperature) refining, or during hydrogenation of vegetable oils or fats. The method may also be used to report all other fatty acids (e.g. to obtain the full fatty acid composition and total amounts of saturated fatty acids, mono-unsaturated fatty acids and poly-unsaturated fatty acids) from the same sample and same analysis.

ZOOM ON ... the Requirements department
To comply with a standard, you need to quickly understand its issues in order to determine its impact on your activity.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.

The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
