Le présent document spécifie les exigences de sécurité, décrit les principales caractéristiques des dispositifs de commande bimanuelle et définit les combinaisons de caractéristiques fonctionnelles recommandées pour trois types de commande. Il ne spécifie pas le type de commande à utiliser pour une application particulière ni la distance entre le dispositif de commande bimanuelle et la zone dangereuse. Il donne des lignes directrices sur la conception des dispositifs de commande bimanuelle, sur la manière d'éviter la fraude, les conséquences des défaillances ainsi que sur l'évaluation des dispositifs de commande bimanuelle comprenant un système électronique programmable. Il vient à l'appui des Directives "Machines" 98/37/CE et 2006/42/CE.
