Il concerne le soudage sous protection gazeuse avec électrode de tungstène, le soudage plasma et le soudage à l''arc sous flux, le soudage sous laitier électro-conducteur et le soudage laser des aciers inoxydables et des aciers résistant aux températures élevées. Il permet une classification selon la composition chimique, et propose deux systèmes parallèles de classification : l''un d''après la composition nominale, l''autre selon le type d''alliage.
