Paints and varnishes - Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources - Part 2 : xenon-arc lamps
ISO 16474-2:2013 specifies methods for exposing specimens to xenon-arc light in the presence of moisture to reproduce the weathering effects that occur when materials are exposed in actual end-use environments to daylight or to daylight filtered through window glass. The specimens are exposed to filtered xenon-arc light under controlled conditions (temperature, humidity and/or wetting). Various types of xenon-arc lamps and various filter combinations may be used to meet all the requirements for testing different materials.Specimen preparation and evaluation of the results are covered in other International Standards for specific materials.General guidance is given in ISO 16474‑1. Xenon-arc exposures for plastics are described in ISO 4892‑2.

ISO 11341:2004 specifies a procedure for exposing paint coatings to artificial weathering in xenon-arc lamp apparatus, including the action of liquid water and water vapour. The effects of this weathering are evaluated separately by comparative determination of selected parameters before, during and after weathering. The standard describes the most important parameters and specifies the conditions to be used in the exposure apparatus.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.
The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
With Requirements, quickly access the main part of the normative text!
