NF EN ISO 1874-1
Plastics - Polyamide (PA) moulding and extrusion materials - Part 1 : designation system and basis for specification
ISO 1874-1:2010 establishes a system of designation for polyamide (PA) thermoplastic materials, which may be used as the basis for specifications. It covers polyamide homopolymers for moulding and extrusion based on PA 6, PA 66, PA 69, PA 610, PA 612, PA 11, PA 12, PA MXD6, PA 46, PA 1212, PA 4T, PA 6T and PA 9T and copolyamides of various compositions for moulding and extrusion. The types of polyamide plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the designatory propertiesviscosity number, tensile modulus of elasticity andpresence of nucleating agent, and on information about chemical structure, intended application, method of processing, important properties, additives, colour, fillers and reinforcing materials. The designation system is applicable to all polyamide homopolymers and copolymers. It applies to materials ready for normal use, unmodified and modified by colorants, additives, fillers, reinforcing materials, polymer modifiers, etc.It does not apply to monomer casting-type polyamides of PA 6 and PA 12.
The types of polyamide plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the designatory properties
- viscosity number,
- tensile modulus of elasticity and
- presence of nucleating agent,
and on information about chemical structure, intended application, method of processing, important properties, additives, colour, fillers and reinforcing materials.
The designation system is applicable to all polyamide homopolymers and copolymers. It applies to materials ready for normal use, unmodified and modified by colorants, additives, fillers, reinforcing materials, polymer modifiers, etc.
It does not apply to monomer casting-type polyamides of PA 6 and PA 12.
ISO 16396-1:2015 establishes a system of designation for polyamide (PA) moulding and extrusion materials, which can be used as the basis for specifications. The types of polyamide plastics are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the designatory properties a) viscosity number and b) tensile modulus of elasticity and on information about composition, intended application and/or method of processing, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials. The designation system is applicable to all polyamide homopolymers, copolymers, and blends. It applies to unmodified materials ready for normal use and materials modified, for example, by colorants, additives, fillers, reinforcing materials, and polymer modifiers. ISO 16396-1:2015 does not apply to the following materials: a) monomer casting-type polyamides of PA 6; b) monomer casting-type polyamides of PA 12.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.
The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
