La présente norme décrit un essai d'emboutissage avec machine de type Erichsen des produits en acier se présentant sous forme de bandes étroites ou de feuillards de largeur inférieure à 90 mm. Cette nouvelle norme complète la NF A03-652 qui s'applique dans tous les cas où le produit à essayer est de largeur supérieure à 90 mm.

For materials that are thicker and when only narrower strips are available, tools of specified dimensions are provided, in which case subscripts are used, as shown in Table 1.
