Water meters for cold potable water and hot water - Part 4 : non-metrological requirements not covered in ISO 4064-1

This document applies to water meters used to meter the volume of cold potable water and hot water flowing through a fully charged, closed conduit. These water meters incorporate devices which indicate the integrated volume. This document specifies technical characteristics and pressure loss requirements for meters for cold potable water and hot water. It applies to water meters which can withstand:a)       a maximum admissible pressure (MAP) equal to at least 1 MPa1) [0,6 MPa for meters for use with pipe nominal diameters (DNs) ≥500 mm];b)       a maximum admissible temperature (MAT) for cold potable water meters of 30 °C;c)        a MAT for hot water meters of up to 180 °C, depending on class. In addition to meters based on mechanical principles, this document also applies to water meters based on electrical or electronic principles, and to water meters based on mechanical principles incorporating electronic devices, used to meter the volume flow of hot water and cold potable water. It also applies to electronic ancillary devices. As a rule ancillary devices are optional. However, national or international regulations may make some ancillary devices mandatory in relation to the utilization of the water meter.1) 1 MPa = 10 bar (1 bar = 0,1 MPa =105 Pa; 1 MPa = 1 N/mm2).

ZOOM ON ... the Requirements department
To comply with a standard, you need to quickly understand its issues in order to determine its impact on your activity.

The Requirements department helps you quickly locate within the normative text:
- mandatory clauses to satisfy,
- non-essential but useful clauses to know, such as permissions and recommendations.

The identification of these types of clauses is based on the document “ISO / IEC Directives, Part 2 - Principles and rules of structure and drafting of ISO documents ”as well as on a constantly enriched list of verbal forms.
