Le présent document s'adresse aux laboratoires réalisant des essais écotoxicologiques dans le but d'évaluer les risques des produits chimiques, des effluents urbains ou industriels, des eaux naturelles pour l'homme et son environnement. Il a été élaboré en tenant compte des protocoles d'essais recommandés par l'OCDE (lignes directrices de l'OCDE pour les produits chimiques - méthode 202) et par la CEE (directive 92/69/CEE - méthode C.2) pour la mise en oeuvre de l'essai de toxicité sur Daphnia magna, prévu dans les dossiers de notification de mise sur le marché d'une nouvelle substance.
