La présente norme précise les exigences techniques de livraison des demi-produits formés à chaud, comme par exemple les blooms, billettes et brames, barres, fils machine, larges plats, tôles/feuillards et bandes laminées à chaud, pièces forgées fabriquées à partir d'aciers non alliés à trempe directe pour les produits trempés et revenus et d'aciers non alliés par trempe au chalumeau et par induction. D'une manière générale, ces aciers sont destinés à la fabrication de pièces mécaniques trempées et revenues ou, à la fabrication de pièces mécaniques trempées par induction ou au chalumeau mais ils peuvent être également en partie utilisés à l'état normalisé.
