Il existe trois normes de rondelles plates. La présente norme concerne les rondelles de grade A qui comportent une dureté minimale supérieure et des tolérances d'épaisseur plus sévères que celles fixées dans la norme NF E 25-513, qui traite des rondelles courantes de grade C. Latroisième norme, E 25-518, fixe les caractéristiques des rondelles épaisses employées dans les assemblages mécaniques ou destinées à l'assemblage de matériaux "tendres".
