NOTE: ISO 10261 PIN can be used on other types of off-road work machines. It is not applicable to the identification of components or attachments.

Le présent amendement complète la norme NF ISO 10261 qui, dans la série des normes relatives aux engins de terrassement, est destinée à harmoniser le système de numérotation apposé sur chaque engin mis sur le marché. Déterminé par le fabricant et sur la base d'une formule qui lui est allouée après inscription par des moyens électroniques, à l'usage des utilisateurs et surtout des autorités publiques, il permet l'identification des engins notamment en cas de vol. La modification porte sur l'ajout de codes pour les dates au-delà de 2015, afin de poursuivre les enregistrements après 2015.
