La présente norme a pour objet de définir une symbolisation pour spécifier, sur les dessins, à l'aide d'éléments conventionnels et de valeurs numériques, l'écart admissible (2e, 3e et 4e ordres) entre la surface mesurée et la surface géométrique du produit représenté. Elle donne, en outre, dés exemples d'inscription de spécification sur les dessins. L'état géométrique admissible de la surface spécifiée désigne la qualité : - nécessaire pour que la pièce remplisse correctement sa fonction ; - suffisante pour que le prix de revient de la pièce soit le plus économique.
