Le présent document décrit les méthodes d'essai des magnésies utilisées comme agent de vulcanisation et de stabilisation dans l'industrie du caoutchouc. La mesure de la teneur en humidité, en hydroxyde et carbonate de magnésium est faite par analyse thermogravimétrique. En plus de la mesure de l'indice d'iode et de la granulométrie, sont recherchés les cations et autres impuretés métalliques par spectrométrie atomique, les anions sulfates et chlorures par voie chimique et déterminée la surface spécifique par adsorption de gaz (méthode BET).
