Après avoir rappelé, en préambule, certains éléments relatifs au fraisage, la présente norme donne les termes relatifs aux caractéristiques des fraises (corps - entraînement - construction) ainsi qu'une classification des fraises basée sur le mode d'entraînement (fraises à queue et fraises à trou). Quand elles existent, la référence aux normes françaises correspondantes a été précisée. Une annexe donne les termes équivalents en langues anglaise, allemande et italienne.
