Le présent document spécifie les caractéristiques des écrous hexagonaux ordinaires, de hauteur réduite et à surplats normaux, avec trous de freinage, à filetage ISO M ou ISO MJ à gauche, pour constructions aéronautiques. La norme européenne EN 3229 spécifie un écrou similaire à filetage ISO MJ, en acier, cadmié, de classification 900 MPa (à température ambiante) / 235 °C. Le présent document recommande, chaque fois que l'interchangeabilité peut être conservée, l'utilisation préférentielle des écrous correspondants définis par EN 3229.
