La présente norme définit la terminologie, spécifie l'appareillage et le mode opératoire à suivre pour réaliser un essai d'eau Lefranc. Cet essai, applicable à tous les sols fins ou grenus sous la nappe, est un moyen de reconnaissance du terrain en place et permet d'évaluer une caractéristique hydraulique du sol par la détermination d'un coefficient de perméabilité locale, dit coefficient de perméabilité Lefranc. Cet essai consiste à créer une variation de charge, dans une cavité spécifiée et à mesurer son évolution en fonction du temps.
